Hi everyone and a Happy New Year!
As we hit the ground running the committee have been busy dreaming up new ideas for this years 10th Anniversary show, no pressure then!! After gallons of tea, bacon sarnies and amazing wedding cake from Mrs. Green at the last cabinet meeting err… sorry NDF meeting you wouldn’t believe the vast canyons of thought that appear as if by magic from Wellington boot practice pads and I’m not even joking, to Studio 1 workshops which will become clear all in good time.
I do hope that many of you found what you were looking for at the last show whether it be a much needed new cymbal or luddy 400, a Radio king or a Gretsch round badge if you were lucky! A big thanks must go to all of you who kindly brought along vintage kits to be displayed and photographed. I do hope that with your continued support we can make this year even bigger and better, you really are the life blood of the show!
I recently got together with Garry our Chairman/Treasurer/ Bandleader/ extraordinaire etc… who has the huge task of sorting through many of Eric Delaneys correspondence from his long career in show business. It gives a fascinating insight into his busy life and has left a wonderful collection of letters/pictures press clippings etc which I’m sure Garry can elaborate on in a future blog!
So as we race into this New Year many of you will perhaps be catching your breath or working on your chops burning off some of those mince pies!
The committee would like to say a big thank you for all your continued support and we’ll endeavour to make this year’s 10th Anniversary the best yet !
Before I sign off I must share with all of you the great news that our Press Officer and Superman/Percussionist Matt Green was married in November to the lovely Rachel, the wedding day went off without a hitch! And Matt arrived at the last meeting armed with wedding cake for the committee to demolish t’was fab! Made by the new Mrs Green herself!! So we just need a full size cake of a Radio King kit for this years show!
